PHILIPPA WOODS

Philippa enjoys the freedom and variety of playing in musical collectives such as The Fine Companions. The lack of strict rules and protocols, which allow songs and music to build and develop spontaneously is especially exciting as each member adds various elements to the mix, and, somehow, it all works.

One of the Band's main fiddle players, Philippa also contributes Mandolin, Guitar, 6 String Banjo, Whistle, Bodhran and Vocals. She comes from a musical family, with Irish heritage and inherited the family fiddle at an early age and found folk music totally liberating, even rebellious. When the world of work took over, music took a back seat for 25 years, but luckily for The Fine Companions she caught the folk-bug again. She loves all varieties of music, but her musical heart lies in playing Irish and Country fiddle - anything lively and toe-tapping so it's no surprise that she is famous for wanting to play everything too fast and furious.

Her day job is a Management Development Consultant.
