OLIVIA LESTER
The band's newest recruit is currently a full-time student with a local weekend job whose ambition is to study music at university, not surprisingly, A-level music is her favourite subject.
Olivia's instruments are Violin, Mandolin and Piano. She began playing the violin at the age of eight and has always had a strong interest in folk music, as well as pop and classical. Since joining The Fine Companions, she is teaching herself the Mandolin. She also enjoys composing her own pieces of music and experimenting with as many genres as possible.
Folk influences include Kathryn Tickell, Van Morrison, The High Kings and Lankum although her musical tastes are wide and varied and favourite bands include Roxy Music, Crowded House and Dire Straits.
When asked what being a member of The Fine Companions meant to her she said "I am so proud to be part of a group of such fantastic, welcoming and supportive musicians. Sharing my passion for music with like-minded people makes it even more special and when we play together it has helped me to massively improve my confidence. I have a wonderful group of musicians to look up to".
Thanks Olivia, we're really touched and it's a great privilege for us to play alongside such a young, talented musician who we know will go far.
